system deployment archive — a JAR archive containing the resources necessary to deploy a PXE system. A system deployment archive is typically denoted with the .sar extension. Each archive consists of:

• A system deployment descriptor that describes the services, ports and channels within the system.
• A system resource repository that contains the WSDL definitions (along with any referenced WSDL definitions or XML schemas) used to define the system's ports.
• A set of service provider-specific deployment artifacts.

PXE includes a set of tools (sarcreate, sarls) and Ant tasks (<pxe-sar>) for managing system deployment archives.
